Journey, one of the most popular American rock bands of all time, will perform at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, August 10. 

The legendary band recently hit the road for a two-year worldwide tour to promote their lastest album, Eclipse, which debuted at #13 on Billboard's Hot 200. Journey's fourteenth studio album, released May 24, is the second to feature new lead singer Arnel Pineda.

150 CHILDREN ARE STILL IN NEED OF HOST FAMILIES FOR THIS SUMMER! 

Summer vacation, that special time of year for all children, is upon us and you still have the chance to make it memorable for a New York City child! Thanks to the many families in Albany Area and throughout 13 Northeastern states and Canada, more than 1.7 million New York City children from low-income neighborhoods have enjoyed free summer experiences in suburban and small town communities through The Fresh Air Fund. The Fund is currently seeking 150 more families to give inner-city children a two-week experience this summer. By volunteering as a host family for the Friendly Town program, you can help give a child a break from the heat and noise of the crowded city streets.

Concert Review: Goo Goo Dolls at Darien Lake

"Attending a Goo Goo Dolls concert during the summer has become a rite of passage for Western New Yorkers. The Goos made their annual return to Darien Lake Performing Arts Center on Friday, July 29.

Shortly after 9 p.m., the hometown crowd erupted into cheers as their heroes hit the stage to kick off their 90 minute set. After opening with new track Last Hot Night in America, the Goo Goo Dolls got down to business jumping into fan favorites Slide and Here is Gone.... "

New York City Children Arrive in Amherst to a Breath of Fresh Air

FRESH AIR CHILDREN FROM NEW YORK CITY ARRIVED FOR SUMMER VACATIONS IN THE WESTERN NEW YORK AREA

26 smiling New York City children boarded buses on Tuesday, August 2nd, headed for the Western New York area. The children in the attached photo reunited with their caring host families at the bus arrival in Amherst. This summer, close to 5,000 children will enjoy summer outside of the city during their stay with volunteer host families in 13 Northeastern states and Canada through The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family program.

Domestic Violence: Is New York Tough Enough?

On July 6th former Buffalo Sabre Matthew Barnaby was sentenced to community service stemming from a domestic violence incident. Erie County DA Frank Sedita III said the ex-hockey player turned TV analyst, was “over-charged” and that if convicted of the original charges he would have been deported, back to his native Canada.

DA Sedita says his team, along with Barnaby’s lawyers, and the victim worked out an agreement that includes misdemeanors and could potentially be dismissed if he complies with the judge’s conditions. Those conditions are to perform 500 hours of community services and continue with his anger management counseling.

Some of the comments that this story received made it seem that most people in Buffalo think that because Barnaby didn’t physically assault his wife then it wasn’t domestic violence. According to domesticviolence.org the definition of domestic violence is:

August Events in the Western New York Area

August means summer is winding down, but there's still plenty of time to get out and do something in the Western New York area. Summer in our hometown means fairs, festivals, concerts, food and fun, and August is when things really heat up - the Erie County Fair is joined by the Lucille Ball Festival of Comedy in Jamestown, America's Grape Country Wine Festival in Dunkirk, and the Taste of Clarence, among many other events in the area.
