Memorial In Place to Honor Fallen New York State Trooper

CLARENCE, N.Y. -- The State Police in Clarence have a new memorial in place to honor one of their own lost in the line of duty.

As part of national police week, the memorial was dedicated to Trooper Kevin Dobson, who was struck and killed by a passing driver on the 290 during a traffic stop two years ago.

New York State Captain Steven Nigrelli praised Trooper Dobson for his work on the 290, known to be a dangerous assignment.
"Kevin, knowing the risks, would still go out there and do his job, because in Kevin's mind, he would rather be put at risk than his fellow trooper," Nigrelli said.

The Dobson family attended the ceremony held Wednesday in Clarence. Dobson was a 14-year veteran of the State Police.

Armstrong Hits Mid 90's On Radar Gun

CLARENCE, N.Y.-Whenever Clarence righthander Mark Armstrong pitches he attracts a crowd. While family and friends are there so are large numbers of baseball scouts.

Armstrong has hit the mid 90's on the radar gun. Most high school pitchers are in the 80's maybe the mid 80's. That explains  why scouts from the Red Sox, Cubs, Royals, Brewers, Rockies, Reds and others are closely following every move the big righthander makes.

Right now Armstrong is committed to playing baseball at the University of Pittsburgh. There is speculation he will be drafted anywhere between the first and fourth rounds. If that happens there's always the chance he will decide to turn pro and not pitch for Pittsburgh.
