Taste of Clarence Celebrates 7th Year

CLARENCE, N.Y. - The Clarence Chamber of Commerce hosted the seventh annual Taste of Clarence on Monday, Aug. 2. The event showcased the wares of 23 restaurants, with wine tastings, a Chinese auction and live entertainment at the Clarence Town Park Pavilion.

Returning this year was the popular Taste of Clarence Cruise Night.

FAA Safety Legislation Passes House & Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C - Crucial legislation that will change pilot and co-pilot flight requirements passed the House of Represenatives late Thursday night, and then passed the Senate on Friday morning.

Representative Louise Slaughter, Representative Chris Lee and Represenative Brian Higgins all spoke to the House moments before the bill passed, thanking the families of Flight 3407 victims for their hard work and tireless efforts to ensure the legislation passed.

Kevin Kuwik, boyfriend of Lauren Mauer who died on Flight 3407, spoke to Channel 2 by phone from Washington, D.C. late Thursday and said the families were "thrilled" for the process to finally be moving ahead.

Free Health Screenings and Services

The AARP/Walgreens Wellness Tour is on the second leg of its two-year national health screening tour with the goal of providing more than $60 million worth of free health screenings in more than 3,000 communities across the nation.

Open Mic Nights in Clarence

Every Tuesday night this summer, you can step behind the microphone and sing at the Clarence Center Coffee Company.

The coffee house is hosting an open mic night every Tuesday from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Stu Shapiro and Friends host every open mic night. There is also live music every Friday and Saturday night.

The Clarence Center Coffee Co. is located at 9475 Clarence Center Road.

Outdoor Movies in The Park

You can watch movies at meadowlakes park in the town of Clarence, free of charge in the month of August.

The Town Youth Bureau is sponsoring both showings.

On Saturday, August 15th you will be able to watch Alvin & The Chimpmunks: The Squeakqual.

On Saturday, August 22nd the town will show Night at the Museum II on the 25" x 14" inflatable screen.

Both showings begin at dusk. The rain date is Saturday, August 29th.
