Amherst Pet Blog: Solutions for Barking

It's in a dog's nature to bark. They enjoy barking, and they bark for many reasons. They will bark when they want something, when they are playing, when they are establishing their territory, when they are frightened, when they are annoyed, and when they are just saying "Hi!" Too much barking, however, can drive a dog's family--and their neighbors--crazy!

Chris Lee Faces Minimal Opposition

Gannett Washington Bureau

GREECE, N.Y. - Freshman Rep. Chris Lee from the Buffalo suburb of Clarence is the New York version of a safe Republican member of Congress.

Lee is facing only token opposition from Democrat Phil Fedele of Greece, who is not actively campaigning in the race for the state's 26th Congressional District seat.

"I'm hoping a portion of it is because of what we did the last 21 months,'' Lee said in an interview last week during a visit to the American Rock Salt mine in the Livingston County community of Groveland, where he highlighted his agenda for helping American manufacturers.

Lee credits his outreach to constituents with helping him to avoid becoming a target for Democrats.

He's also shied away from partisanship. He follows the Republican line on important policy issues without attacking his Democratic colleagues.

How to Make Your Car Last Forever: Auto Q&A with Tom Torbjornsen

Dear Tom,

I own a ’98 Dodge Neon with 97,000 miles. A few days ago while driving, I noticed that the battery light was on and all the gauges were going crazy (up and down). This happens only when the vehicle is in motion. I tested the battery and it’s good. What’s causing the problem?

Join Farm Sanctuary in the Celebration FOR the Turkeys in Watkins Glen

Every single year thousands gather their families for Thanksgiving, for the large meal, and later, the food induced coma. Sadly, every year thousands of animals needlessly die for the above mentioned tradition.

Last year was my first Thanksgiving without a turkey on the table, and I will tell you, it was the most amazing, filling, delicious meal I have ever eaten, and yes, I still wanted to nap shortly after eating. I admit, I can't wait for this years Thanksgiving to come! This year I am thankful for many things, I am thankful that I chose to consume a more compassionate diet over a year ago. I completely changed my lifestyle, and have reaped the health benefits of doing so. I have met only amazing people on my journey, and I am proud to call them my friends. Most importantly, this year I will be one of many attending the Celebration For the Turkeys in Watkins Glen, and for that I am grateful!
