Legislator Walter Announces Free Guided Walk in Akron Falls Park on Saturday

Legislator Ray Walter reminds residents that a free Fall Guided Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 25 at Akron Falls Park. The “Be Active Erie County” event promotes healthy, family fun while exploring one of the County’s most beautiful parks. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Cummings Lodge, and the walk will follow at 10 a.m.

Free health screenings, including bone density, blood pressure, and BMI, will be available during the event. Attendees can also pick up information about senior services programs, health education and smoking cessation.

“Many residents may not be aware of the true beauty in Akron Falls Park. This free guided walk will highlight the many natural wonders found within the park,” said Legislator Walter.

Additional Be Active Erie County walks will be held on Oct. 2 at Sprague Brook Park; Oct. 16 at Chestnut Ridge Park; Oct. 23 at Ellicott Creek Park; and Oct. 30 at Riverwalk Park. For information or directions, visit www.erie.gov. At free gift will be handed out at every walk.

Access to the park is now easier because of the reopening of Parkview Bridge last month. For additional information, please call Legislator Walter at 631-7650 or e-mail Raymond.walter@erie.gov.
