West Shore Railroad Returns to Clarence Hollow

West Shore Railroad Returns to Clarence Hollow

A Statement Released by the Clarence Hollow Farmers’ Market

In 1884, connecting Buffalo to Rochester was accomplished by stagecoach or rail.  The West Shore and Buffalo Railroad cut through Clarence, NY in the hamlet known as Clarence Hollow.

It was primarily a passenger rail service that ended in the 1950’s.

The Clarence Bowling Academy and the Clarence Hollow Farmers’ Market are pleased to announce the return of the West Shore Railroad.  In late Spring, local artist Jeff Perdziak will begin painting a mural, on site, depicting the locomotive and passenger cars that passed over the rails in the Hollow. The mural will be 16 ft high and 67 ft long located on the exterior wall of the Clarence Bowling Academy, 10718 Main Street, adjacent to the old railroad tracks.
