BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Ford Dealers of Western New York are continuing their annual tradition of providing “new wheels” to local nonprofit organizations in need of transportation. Today, the group announced that applications are now available for the 2013 Ford Friendship Express program.

“The Western New York Ford Dealers are excited to announce the call for applications for the Ford Friendship Express program,” said Scott Bieler, chairman, Ford Friendship Express selection committee. “For nearly two decades, the annual program has helped area nonprofits carry out their missions and better serve our community.”

The following items are important program details for eligible organizations looking to drive away in a new Ford van:

  • Applications are now available at www.wnyford.com
  • The deadline to apply is January 2, 2013 (Details below)
  • Organizations must reside in one of the following NY or PA counties: Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, McKean, and Potter counties
  • The 2013 van recipients will be announced at the Buffalo Auto Show in February

Since its inception in 1996, the Ford Friendship Express program has awarded 68 vans valued at more than $1.7 million to groups throughout Western New York.

In 2012, Joan A. Male Family Support Center, Olmsted Center for Sight and The Bristol Home were each awarded a new Ford vehicle. Additional past recipients include: Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services, Be-a-Friend/Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County, Boys and Girls Clubs of Eden, Homespace Inc., Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns, Computers for Children, Kids Escaping Drugs, SABAH, Meals on Wheels of Buffalo and Erie County, Friends of the Night People, St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy, Camp Good Days & Special Times, Student Union at SUNY at Buffalo, Goodwill Industries of Western New York, Rural Transit Service, American Red Cross, The Buffalo Zoo and many more.

Applications and guidelines are available for download at www.wnyford.com under the “local events” tab. All applications from organizations residing in Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, McKean, and Potter counties must be returned and received by January 2, 2013 to be eligible for consideration for the 2013 program.
