Veterans that attended Clerk’s “Thank-A-Vet” event received more than a discount card

Erie County, NY – Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs has hosted over 50 community outreaches throughout Erie County issuing “Thank-A-Vet” Discount Cards to eligible Veterans. The identification card provides valuable discounts at over 600 Erie County Businesses.

Thursday’s “Thank-A-Vet” outreach at the Leonard Post in Cheektowaga was very special to the over 100 veterans that attended. In addition to receiving their “Thank-A-Vet” Discount Card, veterans were also given a hand-made valentine created by students from Cheektowaga Central Middle School.

Prior to this event, Chris Jacobs coordinated an effort with Cheektowaga Central Middle School, where over one hundred 5th graders participated in making valentines to be handed out to veterans at the Clerk’s “Thanks-A-Vet” outreach.

The “Thank-A-Vet” Discount Card Program is a way to recognize the veterans in our community for their service and sacrifice and available to any Erie County veteran who files their ORIGINAL Military discharge papers with the County Clerk's Office. Eligible veterans will receive a photo I.D. card identifying them as an honorably discharged veteran, which can be used towards discounts at over 600 participating businesses throughout Erie County.
