An area couple is hoping residents will join them in lending a paw to charity.

The Rev. Thomas A. LeBeau, pastor of Faith United Methodist Church in Lancaster, and his wife, Georgia Whitney, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary by hosting an open house and fundraiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

The nonprofit group is a guide dog school with a mission of enriching the lives of blind and visually impaired people.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at the church, 5505 Broadway. Refreshments will be served, and several dogs will be on hand.

"We love a good party, and we love doing things a little differently," Whitney said. "So this celebration will have a twist. Think of it as an afternoon of puppies and public awareness."

In lieu of gifts, attendees are asked to make a donation to Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Reservations are requested bySunday, July 6, by emailing georgiawhitney1@roadrunner.com.
