Amherst Meals on Wheels Receives Helping Hand from Citigroup | Community Spirit

Amherst Meals on Wheels (AMOW), which delivers over 70,000 meals annually to homebound, elderly and handicapped Amherst residents each weekday – recently was helped by over 20 volunteers from Citigroup.  Over 200 local Citigroup employees volunteered their time on a recent Friday in honor of CitiGroup’s 200th Anniversary. 

AMOW provides two nutritious meals a day, delivered directly to the recipient’s home, plus the reassurance of a volunteer’s friendly visit. Meals are prepared and packaged fresh each day at the Amherst Center for Senior Services located at 370 John James Audubon Parkway in Amherst.  Meals are delivered by a group of dedicated volunteers,   with clients paying a nominal fee for the service.  AMOW relies upon fundraising events to keep costs low.
