Lancaster High School Organizes Fifth Annual Relay for Life

The community is once again invited to Lancaster High School to help celebrate, remember and fight back.

The school’s fifth annual Relay for Life will be held Saturday, June 1, on the track at the school, 1 Forton Drive. Gates will open at 10 a.m. for team set-up, and survivors are asked to arrive by 11:30 a.m. to assemble for the noon opening ceremony.

Organizers stress that the American Cancer Society fundraiser is a family and community event, and residents are invited to visit the teams to participate in fundraisers until 11 p.m. As of today, 45 teams consisting of 426 members have signed up to participate, and more than $15,000 has been raised.

Schedule highlights include:

  • 1 p.m.: Survivor luncheon.
  • 3 p.m.: Miss Relay contest.
  • 5 p.m.: Carnival Kids Steel Orchestra performance.
  • 8 p.m.: Luminaria ceremony.
  • 9:30 p.m.: Social Class band to perform.
  • 6 a.m. Sunday, June 2: Closing/fight back ceremony.
