BUFFALO, NY - Habitat for Humanity-Buffalo announced Wednesday the start of a youth engagement campaign, featuring a fundraising drive called Nickels for Nails, which will allow local youth from pre-kindergarten to college age, an opportunity to assist in the building process.

Nickels for Nails is calling upon area schools and youth groups to raise funds through the end of the month for the sole purpose of building a home for a local family in need.

Thus far, 14 schools have signed up. They include: Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Williamsville), St. Bernadette School (Orchard Park), Southtowns Catholic School (Lakeview), Universal School (Buffalo), St. Joseph University School (Buffalo), Immaculata Academy (Hamburg), Enterprise Charter School (Buffalo), Sheridan Hill Elementary (Clarence), Buffalo Public Schools 79 (PFC. William J. Grabiarz), 90 (Dr. Charles R. Drew), and 97 (Harvey Austin), Daemen College, BPS #27 (Hillery Park), and BPS #54 – Dr. George E. Blackman, E.C.C..

To bolster support, Habitat for Humanity-Buffalo is set to give brief presentations about both Habitat for Humanity-Buffalo and Nickels for Nails at area schools and educate local youth about how young people can help out their community in a meaningful way within the upcoming weeks.

The results of the drive, the home itself, is expected to undergo the first stages of the building process this fall and is scheduled to be completed by early next year.
