The students at Nativity of Mary School, located at Main & Harris Hill, participated in the annual “Keep Christ in Christmas” coloring contest hosted by the Knights of Columbus John Cardinal O’Hara Council. One winner was selected from each class.

Erie County Officials Volunteer to Wrap Gifts for Autism Services

Erie County Legislators Lynne Dixon and Joseph Lorigo, along with County Clerk Chris Jacobs, remind shoppers that the Autism Services' gift wrapping table will be open at the Galleria Mall through Christmas Eve.

Donations collected help raise funds to help the organization continue to provide much needed services for local residents on the Autism Spectrum. The table is located near the Apple Store and provides gift wrapping services daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Monday, Dec. 24. For a small donation, shoppers can get their gifts beautifully wrapped and support Autism Services.

Junior Sabres' Teddy Bear Toss Set for December 18

(Amherst, NY) – The Buffalo Junior Sabres, ranked #7 in Canadian Junior “A” hockey this week by the Canadian Junior Hockey League, will hold its second annual Teddy Bear Toss, sponsored by Dent Neurologic Institute, as part of its home game against the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots on Tuesday, December 18 beginning at 6:30pm at the Northtown Center at Amherst, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive, between Maple and Millersport.

Fans are asked to bring a new and unwrapped teddy bear or other stuffed animal.  When the Jr. Sabres score their first goal of the game, fans are invited to toss their toys on the ice.  All items collected will be later distributed by members of the Buffalo  Sabres Alumni and Buffalo Police Department as part of their annual joint effort to bring more holiday cheer to local families in need.

Annunciation Church to Hold Newtown Memorial Mass

Annunciation Church in Elma will hold a Memorial/Solidarity Mass at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, in honor of the grieving families and those who lost their lives in the school shooting last Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.

“As the Body of Christ we are not apart from what is unfolding in Newtown,” said Rev. Eugene Ulrich, pastor of Annunciation Church. “St. Rose of Lima Parish in Newtown is becoming a centering place for prayer. Children in the their First Communion class are among the innocent ones lost.”

The public is invited to attend the Mass, which will be followed by refreshment in Selbert Hall. Annunciation Church is located at 7580 Clinton St.

In celebration of the holidays, leather and denim clad members of Niagara Falls Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) made their annual convoy to New Directions’ Wyndham Lawn Home for Children in Lockport to give the children residents’ holiday presents.  For more than 20 years area bikers involved with H.O.G. have designated an early December evening to visit with the children of Wyndham Lawn Home for Children and give them holiday gifts off their wish-list.
