Catholic Charities to Host Domestic Violence Training Focusing on New York Model for Batterers

Social workers, advocate representatives, batterer program staff, and judiciary and domestic violence court personnel are urged to attend the National Training Institute on the New York Model for Batterer Programs, “Domestic Violence Offender Accountability ~ What, Why and How to Get it Done” set for June 20-21 from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 S. Buffalo St., Orchard Park.

Jacobs Invites You to “Passports On The Move” Event

Erie County, NY- Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced that his office is hosting a special “Passports on the Move” Outreach on Wednesday, June 5th, at the Eastern Hills Mall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Clerk’s Office will be set up in the Center Court Commons, between Bon-Ton and Macy’s.  Appointments are required and can be made by contacting the Erie County Clerk’s Office directly at 716-858-8866.

Passport Acceptance Agents from the Clerk’s Office will be available to accept and process passport applications for U.S. citizens during this special community outreach as well as provide passport information. “I encourage anyone planning their upcoming summer vacation or a college student planning their next semester abroad to come to our outreach and apply for their passport,” said County Clerk Jacobs.

Best-Selling Author, Ashley Rhodes-Courter, to Speak on "The Forgotten Child"

Ashley Rhodes-Courter, author of the New York Times best-seller, Three Little Words: A Memoir, will be the keynote speaker for a half-day workshop for mental health professionals and foster care workers/agencies and a dinner open to the public. Both events will address “the forgotten child” and the need to improve the children’s mental health system. The dinner is being presented by the Mental Health Association of Erie County, Inc. (MHA) and the workshop is jointly presented by the MHA and Baker Victory Services. The workshop and dinner will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, at Two Fountain Plaza in Buffalo.

Opera Event in Nearby London to Benefit Hospice Campaign

 

Music lovers will want to travel to nearby London, Ontario for an intimate evening of opera with tenor, songwriter and musician Charles Di Raimondo, as well as special guest sopranos Victoria Gydov and Caroline Ferraro! “Passione — A Night at the Opera,” will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the Marconi Club of London, located at 120 Clarke Road.

Di Raimondo, a member of Canada’s Three Tenors, has performed in Carmen, La Traviata, Rigoleto, Cavalleria Rusticana and Handel's Messiah. He will also present works from his newest album, Passione.
