The Age Of Love -- Film Screening on February 14 at UB Center for the Arts

Buffalo, NY- Beechwood Continuing Care and the Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo present a special screening of the new documentary THE AGE OF LOVE on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 1:00pm in the Center for the Arts Screening Room. Admission is free and seating is limited.

Never before in history have four active, healthy generations lived side-by-side. And now, saddled with stereotypes and outdated assumptions, American society and media must grapple to define who this 70+ set is, and what exactly they need and desire.

Going right to the heart of the matter is THE AGE OF LOVE, a new documentary set against a first-of-its-kind speed dating event for 70- to 90-year-olds in Rochester, NY. Steven Loring’s feature follows the comically poignant adventures of 30 seniors, suddenly forced to take stock of life-worn bodies and still-hopeful hearts. Fearlessly candid about themselves and what they’re seeking, these WWII babies soon discover how the search for love changes—or doesn’t change—from first love to the far reaches of life.

A winner of the Paley Center Doc Pitch Competition and awarded a Fledgling Fund grant—for films that “have the potential to change hearts and minds” in American culture—THE AGE OF LOVE began its festival run at Newport Beach, then screened at the AARP National Expo in Boston, the DOC NYC Film Festival and more.

“Enter the world of speed-dating for the 70+ set. From widowers to divorcees, men who haven’t dated for 50 years to women who call 71-year-olds “babies,” Steven Loring’s film is a touching and funny look into the lives of seniors who just want to find love.”
- THE HUFFINGTON POST, DOC NYC Film Festival 2014 Review

“Steven Loring does a fantastic job in taking you deep into a world that – for many of us – may never have even crossed our minds…No matter what your age, THE AGE OF LOVE is one film you will want to experience.”
- WEAREMOVIEGEEKS.COM, St. Louis Int’l Film Festival 2014 Review

With a goal of creating a national dialogue about our oldest generation, the Valentine’s Day screening at the Center for the Arts is part of a national initiative to launch senior speed dating events. A speed dating event is currently being planned for March 12th at Beechwood’s Asbury Pointe Retirement Community in Getzville, NY. More details will be available soon.
