Jr. Sabres Remain Nationally Ranked in Canada

(Amherst, NY) – For the second consecutive week, the Buffalo Junior Sabres are ranked among the Top 20 teams in all of Canadian Junior "A" Hockey, falling one place to 12th in the latest ranking released today, November 19, 2012, by the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL).

Last week, on November 12, the team entered the list ranked 11th following convincing wins over Ontario Junior Hockey League rivals Georgetown Raiders and Oakville Blades, both traditional league powerhouses. Following the release of last week's ranking, the Jr. Sabres defeated the North York Rangers 5-4 in overtime in Amherst on November 14 while losing in an overtime shootout to the Burlington Cougars, 3-2, on November 17.

The CJHL, headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, is an organization that oversees ten Canadian junior hockey leagues including the OJHL, in which the Jr. Sabres compete as the lone U.S. franchise.  The CJHL's roles include development of consistent rules and discipline protocols among its leagues and determining an annual Canadian Junior "A" national champion.

Also appearing in this week's CJHL Top 20 from the OJHL are the Trenton Golden Hawks, who are ranked sixth. Receiving “honourable mentions” are the St. Michael’s Buzzers and Oakville Blades. The CJHL's ranking is compiled in conjunction with National Hockey League Central Scouting. You can read the latest CJHL Top 20 at  http://ojhl.pointstreaksites.com/view/ojhl/news-21/news_59799.

The Buffalo Jr. Sabres will practice early this week then enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to game action on Friday, November 23 at Milton against the host Icehawks, followed by a visit to the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots on Saturday night, November 24.
