St. Gregory’s Hosts 16th Annual Great Race

St. Gregory the Great Parish in Williamsville will host its 16th Annual Great Race on Friday, June 17.

The race begins at 7 p.m. and the post-race party will immediately follow the awards presentation. Registration for runners is $22 pre-registration and $27 the day of the race. The one-mile Fun Walk is $15 pre-registration and $20 on race day. On-line registration is available at the Parish website, www.stgregs.org.

All registrants will receive a t-shirt, post-race snacks, and admission to the post-race party. The Great Race is a sanctioned 5K run and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group. Pre-registration and race packet pickup will take place on Friday, June 17 from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the St. Greg’s Ministry Center, 100 St. Gregory’s Ct next door to Millard Suburban Hospital on Maple Road.

Taking the stage in the Church parking lot for the post-race party will be Nik and the Nice Guys, a high energy rock and roll band whose credits include performances at the past ten Super Bowls, numerous shows at past Winter and Summer Olympics, and corporate-sponsored events across the U.S. and Canada. There is a $8 admission fee for party goers, age 21 and over, who do not participate in the race. The fee includes beer, wine, soda, and coffee. There will be plenty of delicious food available for a nominal fee and a great variety of free activities for children of all ages, including a rock-climbing wall, moonwalks, and a putting green.

The Great Race has been selected for the third year in a row as one of the elite “Buffalo News Runner of the Year” series that selects 12 races that are major events in WNY. In addition we are participants in “Western New York Fabulous 5 Racing Series,” which also includes the Ronald McDonald House Run, Loughran’s Run, Lebro’s Run, and the Moonlight Run. The major sponsors of the Great Race are Univera Healthcare, The Swan Foundation, Time Warner Cable, and WJYE Radio.

For more information, visit the website at www.stgregs.org. This year at all entrances we will be accepting food donations for the Food Bank of WNY so please bring a donation.
