"Auction for Farm Animals" preview

With the Auction only a few days away I thought showing off some of the great items would be something everyone would like. The support of the local artisans has been really outstanding, and with nearly 20 gift certificates everyone who joins us Monday September 27th is sure to find something they love.

Many of the shops that donated are located on the Elmwood strip, and with fall quickly approaching, despite what today's weather is telling you, a walk along the Elmwood strip seeing the leaves changing, and shopping at these great shops is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, or evening.

Revolutionary War Returns to Old Fort Niagara

The American Revolution returns to Old Fort Niagara and American and British forces are vying for your support. Old Fort Niagara hosts a Revolutionary War Encampment on October 9 & 10.

Beginning at 10am both days, Revolutionary War re-enactors will portray both British and American forces, offering musket and artillery demonstrations throughout the day. At 1pm each day, kids and their parents will be recruited for a mock battle by either the Patriots or the British forces.

Have you heard the Farm Sanctuary "Auction for Farm Animals" buzz?

Well, as I am sure many of you have read there is going to be an "Auction for Farm Animals" on September 27th at Merge Restraurant, and I would love to see some new faces to support not only one of my favourite places to be, but my favourite organization as well. Farm Sanctuary is the worlds leading Farm Animal advocacy organization.

From a letter received in the WGRZ 2 On Your Side newsroom:

I lost my uncle, John Fiore, on Flight 3407. My family and I are holding a charity golf tournament in his honor.

The John J. Fiore Memorial Golf Tournament starts at noon on Sunday, September 26, at Hyde Park Golf Course in Niagara Falls, NY.

On February 12, 2009, John passed away on Flight 3407 in Clarence, NY while returning from a vacation in China. He dedicated his life to his family and his country, leaving behind a daughter, a son with special needs, two grandchildren, a sister, a brother, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Food, Friends, Fun and a Farm Sanctuary Fundraiser!

The above video is of Kim Gordon piglet. Kim Gordon was found by a couple in a band that was finishing up their tour, and had taken a detour in South Dakota, where in the dark of night they saw something running around in the road, panicked, and tired, it was a piglet. Lanore stopped her car and caught the exhausted piglet, sun burned and covered in road rash from her fall off of a transport truck headed to a "finishing farm" Days later the couple brought the piglet they had named Kim Gordon to Farm Sanctuary, where she will live her life knowing only joy. The only remnant of factory farming Kim Gordon has is her docked tail, everything else is a distant memory for this sweet piglet that gets TONS of attention from visiting tourists on the Farm tours.
