West Seneca’s Outdoor Marketplace to Conclude with Customer Appreciation Day

 

West Seneca’s Main Street Marketplace, sponsored by the Western New York Federal Credit Union, will conclude its first season from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, with a special Customer Appreciation Day! 

Several vendors at the market will offer special discounts on Sept. 4, the final day of the 16-week outdoor market. Customer Appreciation Day will also feature two musical groups, including the Slide Tribe from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and P.J. King from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Reserve Hose Ladies Auxiliary is the featured community group, and Pet Connection Programs Inc. will return with their popular pet totes and puppies!

Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Lists Sept. 6 Highlights

 

The popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues its 15th season on Sept. 6. A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, rain or shine, through Nov. 29. 

Providing musical entertainment on Sept. 6 (weather permitting) will be singer/guitarist Don Z. from 9:30 to 11 a.m, followed by the Nickel City String Band from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Occupying the market’s community tables this Saturday will be the League of Women Voters, Paws Along the Waterfront and the Plein Air Painters.

South Buffalo Alive Garden Tour Set for July 20

 

South Buffalo Alive’s 14th annual Garden Tour, showcasing more than 40 beautiful properties throughout South Buffalo and the Old First Ward neighborhood, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20. 

The Garden Tour includes a wide variety of homes and businesses showcasing amazing gardens, landscaping and other outdoor features. Tours begin at Tim Russert’s Children’s Garden located at 2002 South Park Ave., between Choate and Whitfield avenues and next to the Dudley Library. Participants are encouraged to make this their first stop, where they will receive a tour brochure and information to make the tour very simple to follow.

Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market to Open on Saturday, May 10

 

Several new vendors, talented local entertainers and two Wellness Weekends held in partnership with the Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo will highlight the 2014 season at the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market. The selling season kicks off on Saturday, May 10, and runs through Saturday, Nov. 29. Hours at the open-air venue in Buffalo’s Elmwood Village are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.

Please note that the market will begin the season on the east side of Elmwood Avenue, directly across the street from its usual location. The move is expected to be temporary and is due to lawn maintenance.

Vegetable, Fruit and Flower Share Programs Return to Farmers & Artisans

 

As the weather slowly improves and we enter the local growing season, Farmers & Artisans in Snyder is now offering its third annual vegetable, fruit and flower share programs. Available for pick-up on Tuesdays or Thursdays at the store, the programs will run from June through October.

Consumers may sign up for one or all shares, and discounts are available when you sign up for multiple shares.

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Board of Directors is holding its fourth annual poster contest to promote the outdoor market’s 2014 season. Entries for the poster competition are due by 5 p.m. Friday, March 7. Whether you’re a student studying the arts, a professional graphic designer or just someone with a creative streak, you’re invited to submit your design for an 11x17-inch color poster that accurately reflects the feel of the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market.
