MQA’s Michael Wojcicki to Receive Diocesan Award

Michael Wojcicki, athletic director, physical education teacher and coach at Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Cheektowaga, has been named the recipient of the annual Tim Russert/Sister Lucille Socciarelli/Father John Sturm Making a Difference Award. The honor, presented by the Diocese of Buffalo, will be awarded to “Coach Mike” at the 2014 Making a Difference Dinner taking place on Jan. 30 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

The Making a Difference Dinner is a celebration of Catholic schools and an opportunity to honor those who serve Catholic school students in Western New York. Wojcicki was nominated for the award by Mary Queen of Angels Principal MaryAlice Bagwell.

Wojcicki has worked in Catholic education for 31 years, including 23 years at Mary Queen of Angels School. A resident of Depew, he is a graduate of SUNY Brockport.

“Mr. Wojcicki is an extraordinary teacher who continually models Catholic values,” said Principal Bagwell. “Whether it is as a teacher, coach or athletic director, Mike always exhibits kindness, patience and loyalty. He is a mentor and role model to every child and parent he comes into contact with. His genuine caring for each and every student is what sets him apart.”

Mary Queen of Angels School, serving children from Pre-K through grade eight, is located at 170 Rosewood Terrace. For more information, please visit www.mqangels.com or call 895-6280.
