CLARENCE, N.Y. -- A 21-year-old is facing DWI charges after causing a car accident early Tuesday morning.

Deputies arrived at the scene of the crash on Goodrich Road in the Town of Clarence around 1:30 a.m. where they saw a vehicle in a ditch and a damaged concrete wall nearby.

Police say the driver was found in a second vehicle near the scene. Police administered a field sobriety test, which the driver, Joshua Smith, failed.

Smith was charged with a DWI, a license restriction violation, three lane violations and refusal to take a breath test.

Smith was released on tickets and faces a future court appearance in Clarence Town Court.
