Show Your Pride at the Pride London Festival, July 22-29

 

Pride London Festival, an annual celebration of gay, lesbian and bisexual pride, will take place from July 22-29 in downtown London, Ontario, and numerous surrounding venues. Festivities will include a Pride dance, BBQ, church service, film night, art exhibit, literary night, outdoor festival, parade and much more!

Legislator Rath: Guided Walk Through Akron Falls Park on Saturday

Erie County Legislator Edward Rath announces that a free guided walk through beautiful Akron Falls Park will be held on Saturday, June 9. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The park is located at 44 Parkview Drive and signs will be placed at the entrance, directing attendees to the starting point of the walk.

“This is a great opportunity to tour Akron Falls Park, which features a waterfall, rock garden and interesting plant and animal life.  The guided walks series promotes healthy lifestyles and includes health screenings and educational information to encourage healthy choices," said Legislator Rath. "If you have never visit Akron Falls Park, this is the perfect time to see its natural beauty firsthand."

Kenmore-Tonawanda Students, Praxair Mentors Buy Toys for  Catholic Charities Visitation Room

TONAWANDA, N.Y., May 7, 2012 – Through a mentor program with employees of Praxair, Inc., Holmes Elementary School students raised more than $900 in funds to buys toys and a rocking chair to outfit a Catholic Charities Visitation Room for children in foster care.

On May 2, the second through fifth grade students walked to Praxair, their next door neighbor, and presented the toys and games to Catholic Charities Children’s Services staff.

Each year, those who participate in the weekly one-on-one mentor program between Praxair employees and Holmes students raise funds for a local children’s charity, said Brad Damstedt, who coordinates the program for Praxair.

The students and their mentors held a baked goods sale in the company cafeteria. They raised $420 for their efforts, which Praxair matched with another $500. In addition, Praxair employees donated other toys and games.
