Bocce Club Pizza Serves a Unique Slice of Buffalo Pizza

Today’s post features a been a place I’ve been dying to try since we started Buffalo Eats.  While researching Buffalo’s food scene and history one if the first places I heard about was Bocce Club pizza.  Somehow it took us almost 3 years into this blog for me to finally take the drive down Hopkins to stop into Bocce Club’s takeout location.

I won’t go into the long history that is behind the family ownership of the 3 Bocce locations, but the Transit Rd. location isn’t mentioned on the Hopkins/Bailey menu and I know somehow Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo was/is involved.  If you’d like more information you can read this Buffalo Chow article from 2008 or leave a comment below.  What I do know is that I absolutely love their whole-milk mozzarella, sweet sauce and large fluffy crust.

First thing you should know is that the Bocce’s Hopkins Rd location is takeout only; they do have lunch specials (seen in gallery) but there is absolutely no seating inside.  Unless you are within driving distance from your work or home, plan on eating your pizza in your car.  Luckily, I knew about this before I made the visit and was prepared to bring back my two slices back to my office.  For only $6 you can order two slices of pizza and a 20 oz bottle of pop.  They don’t have a spinning tray of slices waiting to go when you walk in, so be prepared to wait 5-10 minutes for them to finish off the slices in the oven unless you call ahead.
