Jr. Sabres to Play at FNC Wednesday; Can Clinch Division With Win

(Amherst, NY) - The Buffalo Junior Sabres will host the Oakville Blades at the First Niagara Center on Wednesday, February 20 at 7:00pm.  As of now, a win by the Junior Sabres will clinch for them a first place finish in the Ontario Junior Hockey League West Division and the top seed in the OJHL's South-West Conference during the playoffs, which begin next week.

Admission to the game Wednesday is just $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for youth and seniors.  Free parking is available in the ramp adjacent to the arena.  There will be a concession stand open.

PINE BUSH, NY – There are still a few weeks left before snowmobilers will have to put an end to the 2013 snowmobile season. The New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA) would like to send midseason reminders to riders to emphasize the importance of snowmobile trail safety and the importance of staying on the trail as snowmobile traffic is expected to increase with the mid-winter break for most school districts throughout the state.

 “We want to remind snowmobilers to continue to take extra caution as we approach the middle of the snowmobile season,” said Dominic Jacangelo, Executive Director of NYSSA.  With snow in this weekend's forecast. the group expects to see heavy snowmobile traffic on trails, and wants to reinforce its main safety tips for an enjoyable riding experience.

The Buffalo Junior Sabres will host their regular season home finale at the First Niagara Center on Wednesday, February 20, when they host the Oakville Blades beginning at 7:00pm

The Jr. Sabres were just one win (or one loss by the Georgetown Raiders) away from clinching first place in the Ontario Junior Hockey League's West Division and home ice advantage throughout the South-West Conference playoffs, which begin the week of February 25.

The Jr. Sabres' last win came on Sunday, February 17, during which league leading scorer Tyler Gjurich netted his 50th and 51st goals of the season in a 5-3 victory over Mississauga.

Tickets for Wednesday's game are $7 for adults and $3 for youth and senior citizens.  Parking is free in the ramp adjacent to the arena and there will be concessions at the game.

The game will also be broadcast on the internet on FASTHockey.com.  A fee applies to watch the game online.

Erie County Clerk to Make ‘Opt-Out’ Form Available for Pick-Up

Northtown Auto Bureau will be open Saturday 9am-12pm

Erie County, NY – In an effort to quickly distribute the newly released “Opt-Out” form, which enables individual pistol permit holders to protect their information from ever being made public, Erie County Clerk Jacobs will make the form available on Saturday, February 16th from 9:00 am-12:00 pm at the Northtown Auto Bureau, located in the Northtown Plaza at 3095 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, NY.

“I want to ensure that all pistol permit holders have several options in which to obtain this form and as quickly as possible, said Clerk Jacobs. “The law provides 60-days for permit holders to exercise this “opt-out” provision before someone can make a request for pistol records. So we are encouraging pistol permit holders who want assurance that their records will be kept private to obtain and complete the form immediately.”

Erie County, NY – Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs announced today that he finally has received from New York State Police the much anticipated “opt-out” form which enable individual pistol permit holders to protect their information from ever being made public.

Permit holders can go to www.erie.gov/optout to print out a copy of the form, fill-it out and mail it or fax it in to the Erie County Clerk.  Alternatively all County Auto Bureaus will have copies of the forms available as of Tuesday, February 19th, as well as the Pistol Permit Office located at 92 Franklin Street, Buffalo, NY 14202.

“The ‘opt-out’ is a simple one page form that allows you to choose one of four reasons you desire to keep your information private. Once the permit holder completes the form simply mail it or fax it into our office,” said Jacobs.

Jr. Sabres To Hold Alumni Reunion Night February 17th

(Amherst, NY) – The Buffalo Jr. Sabres organization is hosting its second annual Alumni Night on Sunday, February 17 during its game against the Mississauga Chargers, beginning at 7:30pm in the Northtown Center at Amherst.           

All individuals who have ever played or coached for the franchise are welcome, including those who played or coached during the franchise’s Niagara Scenics and Buffalo Lightning eras.  Alumni and their families will be admitted into the Jr. Sabres – Chargers game free.

To help commemorate the Alumni Reunion, Cory Mickey – son of the late Larry Mickey, former NHL player and the first-ever head coach in Jr. Sabres history – is scheduled to drop a ceremonial puck prior to the opening faceoff.

Following the game alumni are invited to Santora's Pizza Pub & Grill, 1402 Millersport Highway in Amherst, for a reception where food and beverages will be served.

Erie County, NY –New York State’s recently passed gun law “NY SAFE ACT” allows pistol permit holders to request that their information be kept private and confidential.  The law directs the New York State Police to create an application to allow permit holders to be exempt or “opt-out” from public disclosure.
